We keep a close eye on your progress after you start treatment. We will give you rating scale tests on a regular basis to see how your care plan is working and make changes as needed. If you aren't making progress with your treatment as planned, your plan will change to help you reach your goals. If the results you're getting are good. If you are having good results, we figure out what is working and use that to build on your progress and keep you going in the right direction.

About Medication Management

We see both people who already have a mental illness diagnosis and need ongoing psychiatric care and people who are looking for their first diagnosis. Some people do not do well with psychiatric drugs, but a lot of people do well when they are added to their treatment plan. Because many psychiatric drugs are long-term, it is very important to have a doctor who experts in prescribing these drugs.

The psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants on our team have a lot of different kinds of medical experience. Getting great results can depend on finding the right service. If you want to know more about a specific provider, call our screening line. We will then put you in touch with the right person.

Because Solace Harbor Mental Health and Wellness Center gives both in-office and telehealth visits, you can choose the one that works best for you. Our team will come up with a treatment plan that is unique to your condition and your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s normal to have a lot of questions about your mental well-being. Our psychiatry team is always happy to answer questions via phone or face-to-face, but here are quick answers to our most frequent questions.

What diagnoses are typically treated with medication?

Diagnoses often treated with medication include, but are not limited to:

  • Depression
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder
  • Anxiety
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Eating disorders
  • Personality disorders
  • PTSD
  • ADHD

Before your meeting, do the following things to get the most out of it:

  • Making a list of your symptoms will help you have a clear and helpful discussion.
Get together any important mental or medical information your doctor might need.
  • Write down all of your medicines and the reason you take them. You can also bring your medicine in its original bottle to your visit. If you don’t remember what medications you’re taking or what medications you’ve taken in the past, your pharmacy may be able to make a list of the ones you’ve been given.
  • Make a list of questions you want to ask about your diagnosis, treatment, and any tests that are available. We’re willing to look into different care and new ways of treating people.

If you start taking a new medicine and then get a rash, stop taking the medicine and call the office right away to make a follow-up appointment. We’ll make room for you in an emergency.

Stop taking the medicine right away if you’re having trouble breathing and call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. As soon as you’re done with medical care, please call us to set up a follow-up visit.

After taking a new drug, you may experience other side effects. If you are afraid or think the situation needs to be dealt with right away, call your primary care doctor or pediatrician or go to the nearest emergency room.

Pharmacies may fax requests for refills. Still, faxes from pharmacies could take up to five business days to process.

Please phone your particular clinic if you require refills. That number ought to have been handed to you during your visit.

Examining refill requests calls for consideration of your adherence to treatment. Your physician has to have established care and you need to regularly show up for your planned visits if she is to securely prescribe and renew medications. Several no-shows or cancellals could result in a refusal of your refill request until you show up for an in-person assessment on a planned appointment.

For stimulants, benzodiazepines, hypnotics, and opioids, controlled substance refill requests are tracked regularly to guarantee appropriate use in line with your treatment plan. Early controlled substance refills are assessed case-by- case. Assume refills of stimulants will only be given during in-person visits.

When you call us for a refill, please leave your contact information on our voicemail in case we have any questions. Please understand that your medications will only be filled until your next appointment. Therefore, you must follow your treatment plan: if you need a refill in one month, schedule your follow up appointment accordingly.

We process medication refill requests received by 2:00 pm CST before close of business on that day. We process requests received after 2:00 pm on the next business day. Please account for recognized holidays when planning your refill requests.

We assess a service charge for refills missed due to missed or cancelled appointments. We expect you to make and keep appointments before you use all your medication. This helps us monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to the medication component of your treatment plan.

Prescriptions for Schedule II Controlled Substances must be brought to your pharmacy and filled within 90 days.

YOU MUST REQUEST A REFILL EVERY 30 DAYS FOR THESE MEDICATIONS.

THEY CANNOT BE AUTOMATICALLY REFILLED.

Schedule II controlled substances include, but are not limited to the following*:

  • Amphetamine/amphetamine salts (ADDERALL)
  • Methylphenidate (RITALIN, CONCERTA, METHYLIN, METADATE)
  • Dextroamphetamine (DEXEDRINE)
  • Dexmethylphenidate (FOCALIN)
  • Buprenorphine (SUBUTEX/SUBOXONE)

*Depending on medication, some prescriptions, by law, must be filled within 60days*

Please remember this important fact: we’re here to help you achieve your goals every step of the way. If you have questions or concerns about your medication – it’s working, it’s not working, you think it could work better – please either call us or share your insights and ideas with your provider. We’ll work with you to ensure you receive the best care possible.
